Welcome!

Welcome to my world.

Yes I did just become one of those people who never posts on their blog.

Wow, it's been a while. I sincerely apologize. However, I have an extremely decent reason for my lack of participation in this blog...actually several extremely decent reasons. First of all, soon after my last post, I headed down to Washington IL for a couple weeks, and since then it's been one thing after another. See, I signed up to do this crazy thing called teaching children the Gospel. So anyone who would care to point fingers at me for not posting in so long...I'd like to see you try.

On a serious note, this summer has been crazy. And incredible. God never stops teaching. The weird thing is, I'm actually kind of excited, in a strange way, for fall. Not that I've become a school freak or what-have-you, but I think I'm going to really enjoy this time in my life. High school only lasts so long. For the record, I did just say what-have-you and honestly I'm a little impressed because I never thought I'd be able to work that expression into my daily language. Go figure.

For those of you who are interested, I present my theme verse for the summer, straight from 2 Corinthians and good old Paul. "For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's Word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ." I love that verse. Maybe not just for the summer, but for my life. This is what I get to do with the rest of the time I have on earth: share the power of Christ! No wonder I'm happy! Mystey solved.

I think all of my last blog posts had something about the Avengers at the end, because...you know...there's still that superhero geek side to me. So umm...the Avengers...it's still as awesome as it when I saw it at the midnight showing, and probably growing in awesomeness every single day. There, I think that was satisfactory.

Until next time!

Alright, well...it's been quite a while. I apologize. But guess what? SCHOOL'S OUT! Pretty much. That's the kicker about being homeschooled, each subject ends at a different time. So there's no day when everything just comes to an end and it's officially summer. *sigh* Let's try it like this: THE MAJORITY OF SCHOOL IS OUT!! And I heard it's supposed to be like 90 degrees tomorrow. It's May, people, when did this happen?

I'm trying to think of something serious and uplifting to write. While I do that, go listen to this song:

...
Okay, you gave me enough time to think. Thanks.

Have you guys ever heard Martin Luther King's mountaintop speech? Talk about chills. Supposedly, that was the last speech he gave before he was assassinated. Just recently, the City Harmonic recorded a song to that theme (which I heard them play in concert). It goes sort of like this: "We've been to the mountaintop, we've seen the glory of our God, He is here, in the valley low He's here, I feel it in my soul." Martin Luther King  Jr., in his speech on the mountaintop of God, said that they were in difficult days. And that more difficulty was coming. But he also said he didn't care and he wasn't afraid, because he'd been to the mountaintop, and seen the "promised land". He said he wasn't afraid of death. Then the next day, he dies. Talk about a testimony.

I wish I had that attitude. Don't you? I don't want to get too deep into that subject, just something to think on. Sometimes when we're in the valleys, we forget that we've been to the mountaintop.

That's all. Oh, one last thing....The Avengers. It's here. Nuff said.

Until next time!!

Matthew 5:4 and Spiderman

"Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted." -- Matthew 5:4.

Last Sunday our pastor did a whole sermon on this verse, and this concept. I hadn't thought about it much after we left the church, but God decided to change that (as He often does). In the song "Hosanna", there's that one line that says "break my heart for what breaks Yours". I've sung that a bajillion times, but never prayed it. I started praying it. And boy, does God answer prayer. I think He's showing me what that verse means, in one very small aspect. Beware, once you pray for God to show you what hurts Him the most, it's not a happy process. But I'm glad I asked. We forget sometimes that God feels the pain of His children, and of the lost people who are searching for satisfaction in worldly things. It's a huge burden, and He's allowed me to experience what just a tiny bit of that burden is like to carry. A line from an old Keith Green song comes to mind "Oh Bless me Lord, bless me Lord! You know it's all I ever hear. No one aches, no one hurts, no one even sheds one tear. But He cries, He weeps, He bleeds, and He cares for your needs. And you just lay back and keep soakin it in."

Now that I've written about the sincere aspect of my life...it's time for Spidey. I would like to use this blog to make a public statement, and say that I hold no grudge against Marvel Studios for not including him in the Avengers movie (since apparently half the population thinks he should be there). Really, it's historically correct that Pete didn't join the Avengers until later. This is for everyone complaining about him not being included. I'd also like to say, as far as the reboot this summer goes.....if it's amazing, I'll be on cloud nine. If it's decent, fine. If they butcher it, I will spite the name of Sony and never speak it again as long as I shall live. After I wear black for a week.

Hahah. Well, that's all for this morning. I think I'll go be productive somehow. You should too, get off my blog and off the internet and go do something worthwhile!! Read a book, call a friend, go for a walk, make some kind of good memory. And remember that life with Jesus is ALWAYS worth it.

Until next time!

The Avengers, end of the school year, and answered prayer

So I have three things on my mind today. Well, I mean...more than that, but you know.

#1. THE AVENGERS IS COMING OUT IN 10 DAYS!!! AHH!!! From the moment I am posting this is it 10 days, 8 hours, 6 minutes, and 30 seconds. I'm only freaking out a tiny little itty bitty small amount...if you can believe it. But here's the thing, I've been raised a superhero geek (partly because of my awesome father). I don't show a geek side in many areas of my life, but mention superheroes and I promise it will appear. Spiderman, Captain America, and Thor have always been some of my favorites. And while Spidey won't be in the movie (which is sad but true to the storylines of the comics), Cap'n and Thor will be. Along with some less-epic-but-still-awesome supers like Iron Man, Hulk, and some crazy cool secret agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. like Hawkeye and Black Widow. With this said.............10 days, 7 hours, 59 minutes, and 10 seconds.

#2: It's almost...the end...of the school year...hang on, noble warriors, the dawn is coming...okay that was admittedly corny. But seriously guys, just get through finals and you'll be okay. I am SO excited for this summer, it's ridculous. Anybody else got amazing summer plans?

#3: Every once in a while, God takes a truth that I know very well and reminds me of it in a crazy way. He just did that to me, reminding me that He answers prayer. We take that for granted, but really...it's amazing. I saw a specific prayer of mine answered in a great way this past weekend. And somehow, when you wake up in the morning thinking about how faithful God is, it makes for a great start to the day. Thus said, my day has been awesome. Sometimes I get hit with a random urge to laugh or shout or jump up and down like a little kid, because of the great God I serve! I know that sounds odd, but it's truth, so...believe it.

Alrighty well, that's all I have to share for now. But before this blog really gets going I guess I want to say that I'm always here for anyone who needs prayer or encouragement. Okay?

Oh and guys!
...
Did I mention that Avengers is coming out?
Yeah I probably did. Sorry. Until next time!

Guys I made a blog!

So, I tried this a long...LONG time ago. I had a a blog that probably 5 people followed because I never put it out there and I rearely posted anything. And it very well may turn out that way again, who knows?

For now, welcome to The Jesus Freak Life. Actually that sounds kind of cool. :) Whether this ends up being a place to write down lots of book ideas, or to encourage anyone who happens upon it, or just to rant about random things...well, I hope you enjoy it.

We'll see how soon I get around to posting again. But before I leave, let me introduce you to one of my favorite Bible verses. Colossians 2:13-14 "13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross."

I love that.

Well that's all I have to say right about now. Over the course of however long I write here, some interesting topics may come up; so stick around.

Until next time!
